Adriano Cappelletta
Adriano Cappelletta is the creator, co-writer and executive producer of the four-part musical drama television series In Our Blood (ABC/Hoodlum). The series dramatises Australia’s radical response to AIDS in the early 1980s, set to a pop soundtrack, sung by a Greek chorus.
Nominated for Most Outstanding Drama Series at The Logies 2023 and Best Mini-Series at The AACTA’s 2024, In Our Blood has been described as“…stirring television” (The Guardian) and “A tribute to those who died and a celebration for everyone who survived” (Media Week).
He co-created the comedy web-series Ultimate Fanj, which premiered as part of Fresh Blood for ABCiview.
With Holly Austin and Jo Turner, Adriano was the recipient of The Phillip Parson’s Playwriting Fellowship for the play, Ruby’s Wish (Belvoir, Sydney Opera House)
His other theatre writing credits include The Master Collector (Barking Gecko Theatre), Never Let Me Go (Griffin Theatre), This Boy’s in Love (Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Assembly Edinburgh, Adelaide Fringe) Cubbyhouse (Public Theatre New York), Shane and Eddie: Picking Up the Pieces (Edinburgh Fringe) and Connie Chang’s Cabaret Roadshow (Melbourne Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival)
He recently directed The Laramie Project with the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) BA Acting Program and will direct Metamorphosis in September 2025.
Adriano is currently writing and developing a half hour queer time travel comedy series, The Glittering Mile and a feature film about homecoming and rewriting the past, set in Perth called, Rainbow Rewind.
