Lauren Harvey

Lauren Harvey, based in Brisbane (Meanjin), is a cross-disciplinary writer and actor. Her identity as a dual national American/Australian informs a unique storytelling voice. Her focus on fearless, funny, and female-led narratives is led by a desire to create work that interrogates and ultimately shifts cultural paradigms.

Lauren graduated from the Acting course at QUT with Honours in 2023, and also holds a Bachelors in Drama.

Her show Call Girls premiered at Brisbane Fringe in 2022 and was awarded the Adelaide Fringe Artists Fund for its production in the 2024 Adelaide Fringe Festival. Her web series Call Girls is based on this play, and received an official selection for Melbourne Web Fest in 2023.

Lauren is also trained in improvisational comedy, and has performed with comedy troupes at Improv Conspiracy Melbourne and Big Fork Comedy Theatre. Her training in writing and performance includes working Vogel-Award winner Anna McGahan and with Kathryn Marquet at La Boite. She has undertaken writing and performance studies throughout Australia and in Europe.

Her work has also been produced for Anywhere Theatre Festival and Fresh Blood Theatre Festival.

Some of her performances include Joan Must Die* (i never liked her anyway) (Gardens Theatre), Art of Courage (Teatro De La Pergola, Florence, Italy), Big Hair in America and Punk Rock (The Loft Theatre), The Haptic Visions (Metro Arts).
