Jem Splitter

Jem is a Melbourne based up-and-coming writer and director, skilled in working across the spectrum from comedy to kind-of-funny drama.

Since pivoting to screenwriting, Jem has co-created Hipster Jesus (optioned by Gaumont Television) and been successfully funded by Screen Australia, VicScreen, and the Community Broadcasting Foundation for his original web series Displaced, which will debut in 2024. He’s also hard at work developing Space on Earth, a high-concept kids’ animated comedy that also tackles real-world humanitarian issues including the refugee experience following war and genocide.

In his previous life, his theatre highlights include adapting and directing an award-winning production of the P.G. Wodehouse novel Something Fresh, directing The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and the celebrated magic/comedy group The Gentlemen of Deceit, and starring in Avenue Q and The Witches of Eastwick in Melbourne. Jem is also an experienced teacher, specialising in teaching speech and drama for young children.”
