Eliza Reilley & Nicholas Gell Receive Fantastic Reviews for their performance in Vampire Lesbians Of Sodom. One of the longest running plays in Off-Broadway history, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom tells the saga of two fatally seductive vampiresses whose paths first collide in ancient Sodom. Their bitter rivalry as bloodsuckers but more importantly, as actresses, endures for two thousand years with stops along the way in 1920’s silent movie Hollywood and contemporary Las Vegas. This new production by Brevity Theatre Co fuses together vaudeville, cabaret and drag for a Mardi Gras show not to be missed.
“In a show highlight, Eliza Reilly as a fourteen year old virgin ready to be sacrificed”
“The dueling lesbians are played by Nicholas Gell and Eliza Reilley, he sophisticating camp and she cheezing up showgirl”
“Eliza Reilly and Nicholas Gell as the two tussling vampires excel (in what are easily the most truthful performances of Sapphic blood lust I’ve seen for millennia.)”
“Eliza Reilly is a knock out as Madeleine Astarte, her confident and bold approach to the material is fantastic, her vocals impress as well.”
Eliza Reilly as Madeleine Astarte is sure-footed and engaging, adding an unexpected polish to the very bawdy material. Her Mae West-style delivery of punch lines is charming and effective, and the actor displays a natural flair for timing that endears herself to the audience with seemingly little effort. Astarte’s arch nemesis La Condessa is played by Nicholas Gell, whose very energetic and extravagant performance never feels out of place no matter how over the top he pitches it. It is a rare opportunity to witness an actor be completely ridiculous, and enthralling us with the hammiest presentation one can possibly imagine.
